Hello I’m Angela, just a little about me and how my business began.

I remember like it was yesterday playing with my grandmother’s treadle sewing machine (which I still have) when I was 6 years old, and later - when I was 8 - making Cindy doll clothes for my school friends. That then turned into a comment from my needlework teacher in high school saying ‘you’re not just a pretty face are you’!

I soon found out that I was not such a natural academic but enjoyed all things creative.

In 1983 I started work for Coats Viyella and found my skills lay in the fashion industry. Alongside my 39-hour working week, I took myself off to an evening college to study Fashion and Design in Nottingham for four years, which was all good practice for working under pressure with quite long hours ready to run my own business.

After college - but still working full time for Coats Viyella - and lots of wedding gowns later (which I was asked to make by family and friends), I soon realised that I loved working with exquisite fabrics and more detailed pattern cutting which lead to me setting up my business in 2000.

In 2002 I had the pleasure of moving from Derbyshire, where I was born and bred, to the lovely Welsh hills and I opened my first little Shop in Bishops Castle in 2004. Following this, we decided to visit the Harrogate buying fayre to bring a collection of British and international designed gowns into the shop to sit alongside the bespoke gowns. We soon needed more space so moved to bigger shop premises in Bishops Castle.

I am a very lucky lady, my wonderful husband decided to renovate a barn on the family farm to move our ever-growing business, the target date we set was the 13th of August 2016 (our wedding anniversary), this became the move-in date, and here we are - now settled into our new home for Castle Brides, a stunning location on the Wales/Shropshire border.
